Democrats Continue Their “No Trump In Oregon” Tour in Salem, Highlighting Drazan’s Far-Right Record on Health Care

Salem, OR - Today, the Democratic Party of Oregon held their latest press event in Salem as part of the "No Trump in Oregon" Tour, highlighting Christine Drazan's record of voting lock-step with the MAGA agenda on issues relating to Oregonians' health care.

Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Nathan Soltz was joined by Oregon State Representative Tom Andersen, and Lilith Clinic Director of Public Affairs Grayson Dempsey, all of whom spoke out on Drazan's far-right record restricting health care access in Oregon.

During her time in the Oregon legislature, Christine Drazan voted against funding for the Oregon Health Plan, Oregon's Medicaid program that covers nearly one-third of Oregonians, including over 50% of Oregon children. She also opposed expanding Medicaid access to more people in Oregon. And while Oregonians struggled with the rising cost of prescription drugs, Drazan voted no on legislation to increase transparency in prescription drug pricing.

Speakers also highlighted Drazan's long anti-abortion record that includes backing radical bills that could jail abortion providers while celebrating Donald Trump's handpicked Supreme Court Justices overturning Roe v. Wade. Drazan has also said that she would veto legislation expanding abortion protections in Oregon, and has been endorsed both in this race and her previous failed campaign for Governor by Oregon Right to Life, an extreme anti-abortion group that opposes abortion without exceptions for rape, incest or health of the mother, as well as access to contraceptives and IVF.

"In our time together in the legislature, I watched [Drazan] choose the MAGA party line over what was actually best for Oregonians," said Oregon State Representative Tom Andersen. "Just like Trump, she chose to attack access to healthcare for those least able to afford it. That is unacceptable."

"Oregonians have fought to defend the values of reproductive health care and reproductive freedom as one of the most important things that we hold dear," said Grayson Dempsey, Public Affairs Director for the Lilith Clinic. "Christine Drazan's record tells us everything we need to know: she spent her entire career pushing policies that restrict abortion access and invade the private decisions of Oregonians and their families."

"Last year, when Donald Trump shut off SNAP benefits, threatening 750,000 Oregonians with the loss of their benefits, Christine Drazan was silent," said Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Nathan Soltz. "Even when Oregon families are faced with hunger because of Trump's actions, she refused to stand up to him. And now that she is running for statewide office, Drazan is playing a moderate, but the facts don't lie: she has spent her entire career in politics pushing policies that are lock-step with Donald Trump and his MAGA agenda."

Additional events for the "No Trump in Oregon" Tour will include stops in Bend and Pendleton.
