Mariposa County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) issued a temporary full closure of State Route 140 (SR-140) in Mariposa County for rock scaling work on Monday, April 27, 2026.
Our Caltrans geotechnical and maintenance teams have made good progress removing the debris and making needed repairs to the roadway.
Beginning Friday, May 1, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Caltrans will be re-opening SR-140 to motorists from Midpines to the Yosemite Cedar Lodge. Caltrans top priority is the safety of the traveling public, as well as our crews, and the contractor who are all working diligently to restore the roadway as safely as possible.
This work is subject to change due to weather, availability of equipment, materials, and or construction-related issues. Caltrans reminds motorists to #KnowBeforeYouGo by checking quickmap.dot.ca.gov or Caltrans QuickMap app on mobile devices for real-time highway conditions prior to travel.
Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
