A new councillor has been elected to represent people in Clevedon South Ward following yesterday's by-election (Thursday 5 February).
Michael Harriott, Labour Party, was elected to North Somerset Council.
The number of votes cast for each candidate was:

Turnout was 36.39 per cent of the eligible electorate.
As a result of the election, the political balance of the council remains the same:
There is no change in the political control of the council, with no single political party or group having overall control.
This by-election was held following the resignation of the previous Clevedon South ward councillor.
The next local elections in North Somerset will take place in May 2027, for all 50 seats on the council.
