Sumter County Amnesty Day – Free Electronics & Hazardous Waste Drop-off Event

Safely dispose of your unwanted household hazardous waste and electronics, free of charge! This is your chance to clean out the garage or shed and properly recycle or dispose of items that can be harmful to the environment. Join us on November 1, 2025 - Lake Okahumpka Park, 6085 E SR 44, Wildwood 34785.

What to Bring:

  • Automotive fluids & batteries

  • Household electronics (TVs, VCRs, computers, etc.)

  • Paints, cleaners, solvents, and thinners

  • Pesticides, fertilizers, and pool chemicals

  • Propane tanks (up to 25 lbs), smoke detectors, fluorescent lamps & more

What NOT to Bring:

  • Biological/infectious waste

  • Explosives

  • Radioactive materials

  • Empty paint cans

  • Tires

Safety Tips for Transport:

  • Do not mix chemicals together

  • Keep products in their original labeled containers

  • Place items in sturdy boxes to prevent spills or breakage

  • Transport in the trunk or truck bed, away from passengers
