City Hall, Other Facilities to Close Friday for Independence Day; Trash, Recycling Will Be Collected

As Tulsa prepares to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Independence Day, residents are encouraged to plan ahead for City facility closures, holiday service impacts, and increased traffic around community celebrations.

City Hall, Municipal Court and other City facilities will be closed Friday, July 3, for Independence Day, since July 4 is on a Saturday this year. Public safety and mission-critical operations will, however, operate as usual.

Residents who need assistance with a water or sewer problem may call the following 24-hour emergency numbers: water (918) 596-9488 and sewer (918) 586-6999.

July 3 Service Impacts

• Refuse, recycling, and residential curbside yard waste will be collected according to the regular service schedule.
• MetroLink Tulsa will not provide bus services.

What is Open on July 3:

  • Tulsa Animal Services (closed Saturday, July 4)
  • Tulsa Mulch Site (closed Saturday and Sunday, July 4-5)
  • Tulsa Pools and Splash Pads (also open Saturday, July 4)
  • Mohawk and Page Belcher Golf Courses
  • Oxley Trails
  • Tulsa Zoo

What is Closed on July 3:

  • Tulsa City Hall, 175 E. 2nd St.
  • Tulsa Municipal Court, 600 Civic Center
  • Household Pollutant Collection Facility, 4502 S. Galveston Ave. (closed on Saturday, July 4)
  • Oxley Visitor Center and Tulsa Parks Recreation Centers

July 4 Celebrations:
Tulsa's annual FreedomFest will be returning on Saturday, July 4, with family activities, live music, food vendors, BMX performances, and one of Oklahoma's largest firework displays.

The event will be hosted by City partner, River Parks Authority, and the 50th annual celebration will take place at River West Festival Park and the Zink Lake Watch Zone along the Arkansas River. Family activities begin at 6 p.m., with a fireworks show scheduled for approximately 9:30 p.m.

Motorists should expect increased traffic throughout the evening. Tulsa Police plan to close:

  • 21st Street Bridge
  • Riverside Drive between 21st Street and 31st Street
  • West 23rd Street

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes, follow posted traffic control and allow additional travel time.
