Community asked to avoid 24th Avenue NE and Robinson due to large grass fire

NORMAN, Okla. - 4:20 P.M. The Norman Fire Department is currently responding to a large grass fire in the area of 24th Avenue NE and Robinson Street.

First-arriving fire crews reported a large, fast-moving grass fire traveling from south to north. Due to the fire's proximity and current conditions, the Norman Water Treatment Plant has been evacuated as a precaution.
Firefighters are actively working to contain the fire and protect nearby property and infrastructure. Additional resources are responding to assist with suppression efforts.
Residents and motorists are strongly urged to avoid the area of 24th Avenue NE and Robinson Street to allow emergency personnel and apparatus unrestricted access.
