WASHINGTON - Senator John Hoeven joined President Donald J. Trump at the White House for the signing of the Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution he sponsored with Senator Kevin Cramer and Representative Julie Fedorchak to overturn the Biden administration's Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Resource Management Plan (RMP) for North Dakota. The Biden-era RMP would have closed off leasing to 45 percent of potential federal oil and gas acreage and nearly 99 percent of federal coal acreage in the state.
Accordingly, Hoeven, along with the North Dakota delegation, introduced and worked to pass the CRA resolution of disapproval, which rescinds the RMP and helps ensure access to taxpayer-owned energy resources in North Dakota.
"This Biden-era rule was an egregious overreach that would have severely locked down future energy development in North Dakota. I appreciate Senator Cramer and Representative Fedorchak for our shared efforts to advance and pass this CRA resolution, which preserves access to the vast federal coal, oil and gas acreage in our state," said Hoeven "We welcome President Trump signing our resolution and putting an end to another of the Biden administration's harmful policies. This comes as part of our continued work to push back on the Green New Deal-style policies of the Biden era, support a more robust energy industry in North Dakota and help advance U.S. energy dominance."
