ELIZABETH, NJ - Today, Congressman Rob Menendez and Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage announced $1 million in Community Project Funding to accelerate the City of Elizabeth's work to replace outdated lead service lines and ensure clean, safe drinking water for residents across the community.
"We are working for our communities every single day, and protecting the health of families in Elizabeth by replacing lead service lines is just one way we are continuing to deliver for our residents," said Congressman Menendez. "I am proud to have worked closely with Mayor Bollwage to secure this $1 million investment in the health of Elizabeth families and I look forward to continuing to produce results for our residents."
"This $1 million investment represents a meaningful step forward in protecting the health and safety of our residents," said Mayor Bollwage. "I want to thank Congressman Rob Menendez for working alongside us to secure this critical funding. Replacing lead service lines is essential infrastructure work that strengthens our neighborhoods and ensures clean, safe drinking water for families across Elizabeth."
The funding, secured by Congressman Menendez through the annual appropriations process, will support the identification and replacement of aging lead service lines throughout Elizabeth, reducing exposure to lead contamination and improving water quality for households across the city.
Congressman Menendez secured $1,000,000 for this project through the appropriations process as part of $19,142,000 in federal funding that he is delivering for our communities this fiscal year. Menendez also previously secured $959,000 in the FY 2024 appropriations process for lead service line replacements in Elizabeth.
Menendez will continue working to bring federal funding and resources home to support projects that improve the quality-of-life for residents and strengthen local communities.
