Boise State’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter receives prestigious awards, Platinum status

At the 2026 Beta Alpha Psi Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, Boise State's Beta Alpha Psi chapter received the prestigious KPMG Platinum Challenge Award, the Platinum Destination Award, recognition in the Community Impact Activity, and had two members on winning Project Run With It teams.

What is Beta Alpha Psi?

Beta Alpha Psi is an international honor society for accounting, finance and information students attending AACSB-accredited schools of business.

"As a member of Beta Alpha Psi, you will build meaningful connections with fellow students, the community and potential future employers," said Rachelle Brower, Beta Alpha Psi faculty advisor and accountancy lecturer. "Through professional development activities, community service and social events, you will have opportunities to strengthen your leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Many alumni credit Beta Alpha Psi with preparing them for the early stages of their professional careers."

About the awards

• The KPMG Platinum Challenge Award spotlights Beta Alpha Psi chapters that go above and beyond requirements to improve their chapter and serve their communities. For its submission, Boise State's chapter produced a video highlighting the importance of emerging technologies in the local community. The award puts the Boise State chapter in the top 5% of Beta Alpha Psi chapters worldwide.

• The VITA Platinum Destination Award honors chapters that helped prepare more than 1,000 free tax returns over the past year. Boise State was one of only two chapters nationwide to receive the recognition.

• For the Community Impact Activity, chapters create engaging financial literacy presentations for high school students. The presentations combine entrepreneurship with core accounting concepts through creative, real-world storytelling. Boise State earned an honorable mention, and the recognized presentations will be shared with high schools across the greater Baltimore area.

• Project Run With It is a competitive event that takes place over the two-day annual meeting. It's designed to further the community service component of Beta Alpha Psi and provide students with an opportunity to engage in a real-world consulting project. Teams made up of students from different chapters collaborated with local nonprofit organizations to develop solutions, and Boise State Beta Alpha Psi members Yesica Venegas and Kailey Johnson's teams both earned first place in their respective groups.

What do these honors mean for the chapter?

"To see Boise State recognized as one of the top Beta Alpha Psi chapters in the world was an extraordinary experience for our students," Brower said. "Earning the Platinum Award reflects the dedication, hard work, and leadership of previous officer teams and the faculty advisor. Their contributions have created a strong foundation for the chapter's continued growth and success in the years ahead."
