Step Into Community with We Walk PHL

Walking is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to improve health, and in Philadelphia, it is also a chance to build stronger communities. We Walk PHL is a free walking group that brings neighbors together several times each week in public parks across the city.

The program launched as a pilot in 2017 and has since grown into a citywide initiative supported by Fairmount Park Conservancy, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation. Its mission is clear: to promote positive health outcomes, encourage greater use of Philadelphia's park system, and give people opportunities to pursue fitness goals while connecting with others.

What makes We Walk PHL unique is its community-centered approach:

  • About an hour of walking together in local parks
  • One to three sessions each week, depending on the site
  • Led by trained community members from the surrounding neighborhoods
  • A welcoming space to meet neighbors, spend time in nature, and strengthen a sense of belonging.

The We Walk PHL fall season runs from September 1 through October 31. Schedules, meeting locations, and updates can be found on the We Walk PHL public Facebook page.

Take a step toward better health and stronger community connections. Lace up your shoes and join a walk this fall.
