Today Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie held a press conference to talk about the recent violence against ICE officials in Illinois and called for a stop to the dangerous rhetoric that has exacerbated such actions.

McCombie stated, "From escalating confrontations with ICE agents to rising tensions with local law enforcement, the incidents are mounting. Just look at Broadview, Illinois, where violent protests continue to unfold.

"This is not just a trend, it's a warning. If we remain silent, small sparks will ignite into uncontrollable fires. Now is the time to speak out, act assertively, and restore order before more violence is enabled."

Leader McCombie also pared that call to action with a note on the importance of public safety.

"I stand firmly with law enforcement and public servants who face heightened risk every day," said McCombie. "I will continue to defend the rule of law and the principle that no one should ever be targeted for carrying out their duty.

"Public safety must always be a priority. But we cannot have safe neighborhoods without the help and support of law enforcement, across the board, from federal to local levels."
