ATLANTA - State Representative Dar'shun Kendrick (D-Lithonia) recently introduced several pieces of legislation aimed at supporting affordability and economic mobility for Georgians, including House Bill 1016, House Bill 1017, House Bill 1018, House Resolution 1046 and House Resolution 1047.
"Ever since I was elected in 2010, I have focused on pocketbook issues," said Rep. Kendrick. "So, promoting and filing legislation on affordability and economic mobility is nothing new with me. I will continue this year with three more bills."
HB 1016, which is related to property rights, would give standing to anyone located within a subdivision to request that a squatter be removed from the premises. HR 1046 is the accompanying constitutional amendment.
HB 1017 would require real property purchased or acquired by certain business enterprises to be assessed at 100 percent rather than 40 percent of its fair market value. HR 1047 is the accompanying constitutional amendment.
HB 1018 would exempt sales of clothing and school related supplies from sales and use taxation during the month of August each year.
