Small water utility serves residents and businesses in Crawford County

HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today voted 4-0 to suspend and investigate a rate increase proposed by Conneaut Lake Park Water Corporation Inc. (Conneaut) for water service provided to residents and businesses in portions of Summit and Sadsbury townships, in Crawford County.

Water Rate Filing

Conneaut is seeking approval for a three-year plan that would increase total annual operating revenues for water service by approximately $39,527 or 45% in year one, $24,537 or 19.3% in year two, and $26,016 or 17.1% in year three.

If the company's entire request is approved, the average monthly bill for an unmetered residential water customer would increase from $38.71 to $51.85 or 34% in year one, $62.35 or 18% in year two, and $73.85 or 15% in year three.

The utility provides water service to approximately 166 residential and commercial public water customers and current base rates have been in effect since 2024.

PUC Rate Investigation

The Commission's suspension of the proposed rate changes provides time for the PUC's Office of Administrative Law Judge to conduct a full investigation into the lawfulness, justness, and reasonableness of the proposed rates, as well as Conneaut's existing rates, rules, and regulations, and issuance of a recommended decision.

Customers are encouraged to follow the case and learn more about how to participate in the ratemaking process through resources available on the PUC's website.

A final PUC decision for the rate request is due by May 7, 2027.
