Art Talk featuring Christine K. Miller

The Visual Art League of Lewisville presents Art Talk with fiber artist, teacher, and author Christine K. Miller on Tuesday, May 12, 7 p.m., at Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.

The visual arts are a dynamic, exciting place for individual expression and the communication of important ideas to viewers of art. Miller will introduce attendees to Studio Thinking, a set of 8 Studio Habits of Mind that will strengthen your own art making and take you deeper into your creative process.

Attendees will learn:

  • The habits of artists
  • How artists make decisions when there is no right or wrong
  • Which Studio Habits do artists already use consciously, and which habits can be strengthened
  • Working with the Studio Habits is a deliberate way individuals can power up their artistic practice

Miller is a life-long fiber artist with experience in weaving, sewing, basketry, embroidery, felting, dyeing,
knitting, crochet, and fiber sculpture. She is a former visual arts educator with local, state, and national arts education recognition. She continues teaching in K12 programs through her Visiting Artist presentation of "Fibers in 21st c. STEAM applications."

The Grand is Lewisville's home for the arts. It presents a variety of regional and national touring performers, art exhibits, and classes, while also giving the many arts groups in the greater Lewisville area a facility to perform and display their works. Its multiple performance spaces play host to a variety of events including live music, theater, dance performances, comedy shows, and more. The center features the 294-seat Huffines Performance Hall, black box theater, recital hall, art gallery, and courtyard.

To reach The Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. The Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center. Please be aware that there is heavy road construction at the Main Street interchange with I-35E that will cause delays.

For details about upcoming events or rental information for the facility, please visit the Lewisville Grand Theater website or call 972.219.8446.

This event is consistent with recommendations in the "Old Town" and "Identity, Place, and Communications" Big Moves of the Lewisville 2025 vision plan. The plan can be viewed on the Lewisville 2025 vision plan webpage.
