Eye on UMSL: Early to work

Goalkeeper Hannah McFarlane prepared to stop a shot by one of her teammates during the women's soccer team's early morning practice last Tuesday.

The morning sun pours over the No. 9-ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team during an early practice last Tuesday outside the Mark Twain Athletic Center. The players were giving the goalkeepers, including junior Hannah McFarlane, a workout with shooting drills as they prepared to open their season and build off an NCAA Division II quarterfinal appearance last fall.

The Tritons wound up going 0-1-1 on the road during the season's first week with a loss to Pittsburg State and a draw against No. 4 Washburn. They will make their home debut against the University of Wisconsin Parkside Rangers at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Don Dallas Soccer Field on North Campus.
