6 Washington Street, South Hobart
The Hobart City Council Planning Authority Committee has considered a development application for partial demolition, alterations, new front fencing and signage for 6 Washington Street, South Hobart. The vote was tied, meaning the application will now be delegated to officer level for a decision.
If approved, the proposal will replace the existing fence along the Wentworth Street frontage with a new entryway featuring signage upgraded boundary fencing and a covered pedestrian entrance. If approved, the redesign will create a more open and accessible space, incorporating bicycle parking and new signage.
Macquarie Point Precinct - Staging Plan - consultation
Council has reviewed the Macquarie Point Development Corporation's Staging Plan for the Macquarie Point Precinct and supports Version A (dated 3 February 2026) proceeding to approval. The Plan outlines four key stages for delivery of the project, from site preparation through to stadium construction and operations. Council will continue to be consulted as the Plan is updated over time.
Officer level development applications approved between 13 January and 27 February 2026
Between Hobart City Council Planning Authority Committee meetings, the City's Planning Officers are busy reviewing a range of residential and commercial development applications for Hobart.
Since the last meeting, 32 development applications delegated to council officers were also approved while 24 development applications are currently being advertised.
A reminder that the City has a planner on duty during office hours which members of the community can call through our Customer Services to check to see whether any development or work to a garden will require planning approval.
