EUAM RCA strengthens the State’s capacity to respond to gender-based violence within the internal security system

EUAM RCA Human Rights Adviser, together with Patricia Bocchi, Rule of Law and Human Rights Adviser at the Civilian Operations Headquarters of the European External Action Service (EEAS), met with the Police Women's Network (Réseau des Femmes Policières - RFP) at the Central Police Station in Bangui to advance efforts to strengthen the Central African Republic's response to gender-based violence and improve protection for victims.

Discussions focused on reinforcing national capacity within the internal security system, in support of security sector reform. Progress was reviewed on the rehabilitation of premises that will host both the RFP and a future reception centre for women victims, to be completed within the current mandate and embedded in national structures.

"This initiative strengthens our ability to support victims and reinforces the role of women within the police," noted an RFP representative.

EUAM RCA also supports the training of Judicial Police Officers (OPJ), strengthening the link between police response and judicial follow-up. Through this integrated approach, the Mission contributes to a more effective justice chain and strengthens the State's ability to address gender-based violence, in line with the EU Women, Peace and Security agenda.
