UAA men qualify for NCAA XC National Championships

Anchorage, Alaska - The University of Alaska Anchorage men's cross country team earned an at-large selection to the NCAA Div. II Cross Country National Championships hosted by UW-Parkside Nov. 22.

The Seawolves finished second at the GNAC Championships and fourth at the NCAA West Regional Championships.

This year will mark the 16th time that the UAA men's cross country team has qualified for the NCAA National Championships and will be its first appearance since 2023.

The Seawolves are led by John Peckham, who finished 91st as an individual at the 2024 National Championships. The native of Sisters, Oregon, was the GNAC Champion and finished fourth at the NCAA West Regional Championships in 2025.

Ty Elliott, a native of Anchorage, Alaska, earned All-GNAC and All-Region honors this season for the Seawolves.

"If you had told me these men were to do this back in June, I would not have believed you," said associate head coach Chas Davis. "But John Peckham and the rest of our leadership believed…and gradually pulled me on that hype train as the season progressed. Goes to show what a difference leadership and culture make, and these men found a way."
