Scouting America 2026 National Jamboree expected to impact traffic beginning Wednesday, July 22, 2026
More than 15,000 scouts and scouting volunteers are expected to attend the National Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in Glen Jean, Fayette County, beginning Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
The Jamboree runs Wednesday, July 22, 2026, through Friday, July 31, 2026. The West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) expects especially heavy traffic on arrival day, July 22, and departure day, July 31.
Scouts and volunteers taking part in the Jamboree will be commuting via buses and personal vehicles. Increased traffic and congestion should be expected in the area over the next 10 days.
Charleston, Beckley, Fayetteville, and the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve in Fayette, Raleigh and Kanawha Counties are among the areas that will see increased traffic as the buses start to arrive on Wednesday, July 22.
Roadways likely impacted by the influx of scouts include US 19 between Beckley and Fayetteville, WV 16 between Beckley and Fayetteville, and Interstate 77 between Charlotte, North Carolina, and Glen Jean.
