Executive Order on Perpetuating the Memory of Lyudmila Verbitskaya

The document notes the outstanding contribution of Lyudmila Verbitskaya to preserving and developing the Russian language. In 2026, the country will celebrate her 90th birthday anniversary. Consequently, the President approved the initiative of multiple organisations on perpetuating the memory of Lyudmila Verbitskaya.

The Government of the Russian Federation shall institute the Lyudmila Verbitskaya International Memorial Prize for outstanding contribution to studying, preserving and promoting the Russian language and Russian spoken culture.

Additionally, the government shall hold the biannual St Petersburg International Philological Forum - The Russian Language and the Cultural-Educational Sovereignty of Multilingual Russia from 2026. In 2027, it shall hold the International Science and Practical Congress - The Living Word: Language, Speech and Culture. Both events will be dedicated to the academic legacy of Lyudmila Verbitskaya.
