[email protected] Advisory Detail What: Ribbon Cutting to Reopen Katherine Court with Permeable Surface Replacing 100-Year-Old Concrete When: Friday, November 7, 2025 1:15 - 2:00 p.m. Where: The intersection of Katherine Court and McKendrie Street, San José Who: Mayor Matt Mahan Councilmember Michael Mulcahy, District 6 Bob Sippel, Rose Garden Neighborhood Association President and Katherine Court resident Background: We're cutting the ribbon to formally reopen Katherine Court. This unusual San José street was last paved around 1920 - entirely in concrete! The impervious concrete roadway has been replaced with permeable interlocking pavers which, in addition to being beautiful, will let rain flow through the gaps and the gravel below, into the soil and stormwater sewer system. This is a first-of-its-kind project in San José. It will give us the opportunity to learn more about the environmental benefits of permeable pavers as well as the maintenance requirements. Reopening the street will also give patient neighbors access to their driveways again. ###
