BLM to Sell 6.5 Million Board Feet of Timber in Idaho

BOISE, Idaho - The Bureau of Land Management will offer two timber sales August 10 that will support Idaho jobs, provide materials for local mills and construction, and help reduce wildfire risk on nearly 600 acres of public land. Together, the projects will make about 6.5 million board feet of timber available through competitive sales.

"More than 20 percent of BLM-managed lands nationally are forest and woodland ecosystems," said Meagan Conry, BLM Idaho Acting State Director. "The BLM ensures the health and resilience of these public forests and the availability of traditional forest products such as timber. Timber sales help reduce wildfire risk, improve, maintain, and restore forest health, water quality, and fish and wildlife habitat."

The Bennett Mountain Timber Sale includes thinning on 434 acres near Mountain Home in Elmore County. It will produce an estimated 5.7 million board feet of timber. The BLM will accept sealed, written bids until 10 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2026, at the Four Rivers Field Office located at 3948 Development Avenue, Boise, ID 83705.

The Sheridan Ridge #2 Timber Sale includes commercial thinning treatments on 158 acres near Kilgore in Clark County. It will produce an estimated 850 thousand board feet of timber. The BLM will accept sealed, written bids before 2 p.m. on Aug. 27, 2026, at the Pocatello Field Office, 4350 Cliffs Drive, Pocatello, ID 83204.

Timber sales generate around $20 million annually for Idaho rural economies.

America has significant timber resources, and the BLM is focused on using forests for timber and jobs that improve life for all Americans. These sales support Executive Order 14225, "Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production."
