Megan Moroney Tells Vulnerable, Nostalgic Story In Heartfelt Ballad — Listen

Megan Moroney debuted a vulnerable, heartfelt song after teasing it on TikTok earlier this year.

Moroney, 29, released "You for Me (Smoky Mountain Demo)" on Friday (November 6). She wrote it with Jessie Jo Dillon, Connie Harrington and Jessi Alexander, bringing it to life with raw storytelling and an acoustic sound. The lyrics find the singer reflecting on the glamorous life she's lived while traveling the world, though she still thinks about her past love.

"I've been to Times Square on New Year's Eve/ Midnight confetti falling down on me/ I've been to Vegas, I stayed in/ One of those sky high presidential suites/ What a dream/ I've heard the voice of Elvis in Graceland down the hall/ And I've seen the Smoky Mountains in the fall/ But I'd take your eyes over every sky in Southern California/ I'd trade a thousand Georgia nights for your kisses in the morning/ I could go anywhere I swear around the world and go see all there is to see/ But it's always gonna be you for me"

Moroney's teaser over the summer arrived during her first-ever headlining arena tour. She played dozens of shows throughout the year after delivering her third studio record, Cloud 9, with Beautiful Things," the title track, "Stupid," "Beautiful Things," "Medicine," "Wish I Didn't," and more. Next, she's gearing up for four shows at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, where she'll focus on her first two albums. The shows are set for December 5, 6, 7 and 8.

"I am so excited for my fans and I to dive into this new world of Cloud 9 together," Moroney said in a statement when she announced her Cloud 9 era. "Similar to the first two albums [2023's Lucky and 2024's Am I Okay?], it's all written about honest, personal experiences, but these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I've ever been. My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love. Cloud 9 is a state of mind, and I have no doubt this will be the best chapter yet."
