U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals: Maimonides Continues to Rank Highly in More Than a Dozen Areas of Care

Only Brooklyn-based health system recognized in 2026-2027 Rankings

Brooklyn, NY, August 4, 2026- Maimonides Medical Center was recognized for excellence in multiple specialties and region-leading overall care quality in U.S. News & World Report 's annual Best Hospitals rankings, the only Brooklyn-based health system recognized this year.

For the sixth year in a row, Maimonides was named a Best Regional Hospital, ranked No. 20 in New York State and No. 20 in the New York City metro area. For the third year in a row, the medical center was named a Best Regional Hospital for Community Access, a recognition Maimonides has received each year since the category's inception.

Maimonides Medical Center was named high-performing in adult specialty cardiology and heart and vascular surgery, ranked at No. 9 in the state and No. 10 in the New York City metro area, and among the top 10% of all eligible hospitals nationwide. Rankings are based on patient outcomes, patient experience, other care-related indicators, and expert physician input.

For adult procedures and conditions, Maimonides was rated as high-performing in 13 areas of care: COPD, colon cancer surgery, diabetes, heart arrythmia, heart attack, heart failure, hip fracture, kidney failure, lung cancer surgery, maternity care, pacemaker implantation, pneumonia, and stroke.

Maimonides' maternity care recognition was announced in December 2025, as part of U.S. News & World Report' s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care annual study. As a 2026 High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care, Maimonides was one of four hospitals in Brooklyn and 10 in all of New York City to be distinguished with the highest award a hospital can earn for maternity care from U.S. News .

These ratings are based on federal and publicly available data from sources including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and clinical professional organizations, among others.

Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital, ranked separately, was rated high-performing in three adult procedures and conditions: heart arrythmia, heart failure, and kidney failure.

In 2025, Maimonides achieved 20 specialty care honors from Healthgrades. We also ranked among the top 5% nationwide for orthopedic services and outpatient prostate care and among the top 10% nationwide for spine surgery and pulmonary services, according to Healthgrades data. Maimonides has ranked in the top 1% in the country for hospital-wide all-cause survival for eight straight years, according to data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, as well as the top 1% nationally for heart failure and stroke mortality rates. In 2025, Maimonides Children's Hospital, Brooklyn's only children's hospital and pediatric trauma center, has been recognized as the No. 1 top performer in the 2025 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Ranking by Vizient out of 98 children's hospitals across the country. Earlier this year, Maimonides was also named an American College of Surgeons (ACS) National Surgical Quality Improvement Program Hospital and officially recognized as an ACS Surgical Quality Partner.
