WASHINGTON, D.C.-Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted to pass H.R. 7006, the Financial Services and General Government and National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2026, legislation that reduces federal spending while strengthening national security, protecting taxpayers, and reinforcing core American values.

"For too long, Washington has spent more while delivering less," said Congressman Harrigan. "This bill makes real cuts, focuses our foreign policy on allies and threats that actually matter, and reins in programs that have drifted far from their original mission. It's a serious step toward restoring discipline, accountability, and common sense in how taxpayer dollars are spent."

Key Provisions of the FY26 Financial Services and National Security Appropriations Bill include:

  • Investing in the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program to strengthen interdiction efforts and stop narcotics from entering American communities.
  • Continuing oversight of remaining COVID-era programs to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars.
  • Providing $1 billion for the Small Business Administration, including $282 million for the Disaster Loan Program to help small businesses recover from natural disasters.

The legislation also delivers significant spending reductions, holds unaccountable international organizations in check, eliminates Biden-era climate and DEI mandates, and maintains strong support for key U.S. allies and national security priorities.

With House passage, the bill now moves to the Senate. Congressman Harrigan is urging swift action to ensure federal spending reflects the priorities of the American people and keeps the government focused on security, accountability, and fiscal responsibility.
