Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas Yan Jiarong Meets with the Hon. President of the Senate Lashell Adderley

On 16 December 2025, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, met with the Hon. Lashell Adderly, President of the Senate of The Bahamas and her colleagues. They exchanged in-depth views on the China-Bahamas relationship, including exchanges, and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

Ambassador Yan highlighted China's implementation of the "Five Programs" for China-Latin America and the Caribbean cooperation,announced by President Xi Jinping at the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, focusing on solidarity, development, civilization, peace, and people-to-people connectivity. She also outlined "China's Policy Paper on Latin America and the Caribbean", emphasizing that China and The Bahamas share similar aspiration and have close people-to-people bonds. China is willing to work with The Bahamas to strengthen cooperation in various fields, including exchanges between legislative bodies, and jointly build a community with a shared future for humanity.

President Adderley recalled her visit to China and expressed her appreciation of China's economic and social development, believing that China's development brings opportunities to the world and The Bahamas. She reiterated the Bahamas's firm adherence to the one-China principle. She further expressed willingness to promote exchanges between the two countries' legislative bodies and advance cooperation in fields such as economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
