Public Course on Weather Observation 2026 Received Enthusiastic Response

The Public Course on Weather Observation organised by the Hong Kong Observatory received enthusiastic response, and successfully conducted on 28 March and 11 April. During the two half-day classes and practical exercises, around 120 participants learnt basic weather observation methods and techniques, including classification of clouds and weather phenomena, interpretation of weather charts and weather proverbs, applications of weather observation in weather forecasting, applications of weather information, and the working principles of common meteorological instruments. They also gained hands-on experience in conducting weather observations and preparing weather reports.

Participants expressed appreciation for the rich content of the course and professional presentations of the instructors. Upon completion of the course, with foundational meteorological knowledge and weather observation skills acquired, they can continue to share weather-related photos or videos in the Facebook group of the This link will open in a new windowCommunity Weather Observing Scheme.

Those who were unable to attend the course in person are welcome to watch the series of This link will open in a new windowOnline Videos on Weather Observation produced by the Observatory to enhance their knowledge.
