Des Moines, Iowa- Friday, September 19, 2025 - Last night, 21 Des Moines residents began a journey with a backstage pass to the Des Moines city government.
Over the next six weeks, the EngageDSM Fall 2025 Cohort will have the chance to go behind-the-scenes with the 16 Departments that support the city of Des Moines, have in-depth conversations with city leaders and tour department facilities.
"We were so excited to see so much interest in last spring's inaugural cohort, and are looking forward to having more residents explore this opportunity," Des Moines Community Impact & Relations Director Manisha Paudel said."Through Engage DSM: Resident Academy, residents not only get to learn more about their local government operations, but they also learn more meaningful ways to engage with and shape their city."
This civic engagement program is an opportunity for residents to meet city leaders, learn how each department operates, discover how to access city services, find opportunities to join committees, boards and commissions, and get a first-hand perspective of how the City of Des Moines serves its residents. Applications for the next cohort will open in late 2025.
