Business Spotlight: Smart Cups using smart technology to lessen the carbon footprint

The one thing certain about Smart Cups is their unique technology is making a smart impact on the environment.

Founded by CEO Chris Kanik, Smart Cups is a sustainable technology company that prints - rather than bottles - beverage ingredients onto the bottom of cups, creating instant drinks when water is added.

Originally starting with energy drinks, the Mission Viejo-based company has expanded to include products like printed soups and other foods as well as pet care with plans to expand further into pharmaceutical applications.

Named one of Time Magazine's best inventions of 2021, the company also gained national attention when Kanik won Season 1 of Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars.
