Crews are making progress on the Blue Ridge Road Bike & Pedestrian Project! They are installing new bridge sections that will provide safer, more convenient connections for people walking and biking in the area. To make this important work possible, overnight lane closures are planned for two nights in October.
The first closure is scheduled from Friday night, Oct. 3, through early Saturday morning, Oct. 4, when crews will set the bridge span over eastbound Wade Avenue. A second closure is scheduled for Friday night, Oct. 10, into Saturday morning, Oct. 11, to set the bridge span over westbound Wade Avenue.
Reduced traffic will flow up the Blue Ridge Road off-ramp, then rejoin Wade Avenue on the other side. Blue Ridge Road will remain open throughout. A single lane of Wade Avenue will be closed from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. All lanes will be closed from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. At 7:00 a.m., traffic will resume with one lane still closed. All lanes will reopen at 8:30 a.m.
Please follow detours and signage, and expect extra travel time during overnight operations. We appreciate your patience as we work to make Blue Ridge Road safer and more accessible for pedestrians and cyclists.
