Program Builds on Success of Neighborhood Academy, Neighborhood Leaders Luncheon; Residents Now Have More Opportunities to Build Capacity, Solve Problems Together
The City of Tulsa is launching Neighborhood Connect, a new program designed to help neighborhood leaders and organizations share ideas, build partnerships and strengthen connections within their communities.
The initiative's goal is to bring residents together and empower them to collaborate, build relationships and solve problems alongside neighborhood leaders, businesses, schools, religious organizations and other community groups.
City staff from the community planning team will help facilitate a one-time engagement, assisting residents in designing, planning, and hosting a meeting tailored to their specific goals. The City can also help coordinate participation from potential City of Tulsa departments upon request, ensuring neighborhood-led conversations have the appropriate support and representation.
"Neighborhood Connect was inspired by strong community interest expressed during our Neighborhood Leaders Luncheon and Neighborhood Academy." Said Alisia Myers, Neighborhood Liaison for the City's Planning & Neighborhoods Department. "Residents have consistently voiced a desire for more actionable and meaningful opportunities to connect with one another and with the City, which led to the development of this new program."
Ultimately, Neighborhood Connect equips neighbors with tools, facilitation support and relationship-building opportunities so they can continue the work independently after the meeting concludes. The program aims to help neighborhoods grow their capacity, build trust and create pathways for collaboration across the city.
