Conference talks

Speaking of conferences, the APNIC and APRICOT conferences bring together regional and global knowledge, which is captured in the recordings posted after the session.

To deepen your Internet operations knowledge and see how you might benefit from attending a future conference, check out the recordings of sessions from recent ones:

  • Network Management & Monito ring: This presentation examines the outcomes of the Internet Architecture Board's 'Next Era of Network Management Operations (NEMOPS) workshop held in December 2024. It explores the historical context of network management specifications defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force, key insights and takeaways from the workshop, and their implications for the future.
  • Measuring & Autom ating: By centralizing network data such as IP addresses, VLANs, and device configurations within IP address management (IPAM), ISPs can ensure accurate and consistent deployments across a multi-vendor environment. The presentation focuses on practical implementations, featuring examples of automating Mikrotik routers, Huawei switches, Juniper MX480, and Cisco NCS routers.
  • Cryptography in Quant um Era: This session provides an overview of how classical cryptography can be compromised by the power of quantum computing and what the post-quantum world looks like. The session does not presume much prior knowledge and assumes a tutorial approach.

You can find playlists of recorded sessions from many years' worth of conferences on the APNIC YouTube channel.

Policy development

Internet Number Resource (INR) policy plays an important role in shaping how resources are managed in our region, and benefits greatly from contributions from people with direct experience of the impact of these policies.

If INR policy is new to you, don't worry, as there are some simple ways for you to find your way with the APNIC Policy Development Proces s (PDP):

  • Webinar : This 50-minute session is a good way to get grounded, covering what a policy is, types of policy, and other aspects of the PDP.
  • Course : The course covers similar topics to the webinar, but includes quizzes to help you verify your understanding of the material.
  • Open Policy Meeting (OPM) : Experience may be the best teacher of all, and there are no prerequisites to participating in an OPM beyond a willingness to learn and share your opinion.
