Hurricane Isaias: Disaster Response
& Regulatory Updates

FSLSO Disaster Response Teams Conclude Deployment in Florida Panhandle

The Florida Surplus Lines Service Office (FSLSO) has concluded its on-site disaster response efforts today, October 16, following the closure of the Pensacola Insurance Assistance Hub.

With the Destin Insurance Assistance Hub already closed, our Disaster Response Teams have now completed their deployment in support of the Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) and communities affected by Hurricane Isaias.

Throughout the deployment, FSLSO staff worked alongside DFS to assist policyholders, agents, and carriers with surplus lines insurance-related questions and connect individuals with available resources.

While our on-site assistance has concluded, FSLSO remains available to help. Anyone with questions or in need of assistance is encouraged to contact our office.

For additional disaster recovery information and resources, visit the Florida Department of Financial Services' Hurricane Isaias Resources Page.

We appreciate the efforts of our Disaster Response Teams and our continued partnership with DFS in supporting Florida communities during recovery.

Regulatory Update: No Emergency Order for Cancellations or Nonrenewals

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) has advised that no emergency order imposing additional restrictions on insurance policy cancellations or nonrenewals will be issued in response to Hurricane Isaias.

Existing statutory and regulatory requirements governing policy cancellations and nonrenewals remain in effect.

FSLSO will continue to monitor regulatory developments and share relevant information with the surplus lines community as it becomes available.
