Cherokee Nation to host annual Elder Summits in Northern, Southern regions of Reservation

Cherokee Nation is hosting its annual Elder Summit with two events, including one in the the northern and one in the southern region of the Cherokee Nation Reservation. Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. will discuss plans for expanding the tribe's elder nutrition program through additional meal opportunities and support for new elder nutrition sites.

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Cherokee Nation will be hosting its annual Elder Summit events in the Reservation, including one in the northern region and a second in the southern region. The northern region event is Wednesday in Catoosa, while the southern region event is Friday in Tahlequah.

During the elder summit, attendees can expect to hear from Cherokee Nation leaders including Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. and Deputy Chief Bryan Warner.

Chief Hoskin will announce additional funding from the tribe to help support and expand the tribe's elder nutrition programs, which includes additional meals for elders across the Reservation.

Cherokee Nation departments will also be on hand to provide attendees with information on elder-driven programs and initiatives. Attendees will have opportunities to fellowship and receive a free meal.
