Alaska Seismic Hazards Safety Commission in-person meeting and guest presentations, Thursday August 13, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm


The Alaska Seismic Hazards Safety Commission will hold a full-day, in-person meeting on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm in the University of Alaska, Anchorage Library Room 307, 3211 Providence Drive, Anchorage, AK 99508.

Regular Commission business will take place from 9:00 am to noon.

Beginning at 1:00 pm we'll hear three guest presentations by technical specialists from the U.S. Geological Survey's Geologic Hazards Science Center in Golden, Colorado
  • Dr. Peter Powers - The 2023 Alaska National Seismic Hazard Model
  • Dr. Kishor Jaiswal - Assessing Seismic Risk Using The 2023 Alaska National Seismic Hazard Model
  • Dr. Andrew Makdisi - Impacts of the 2023 Alaska National Seismic Hazard Model Update on Risk-Based Design of New Buildings and Transportation Infrastructure
