The Defence Staff and the Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC) strengthen cooperation in the field of military mobility


The Commander of the Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC), Lieutenant General Kai Rohrschneider, paid a working visit to Romania over 29 - 30 July.


The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between the Defence Staff and the Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC) in the field of military mobility, host nation support and to facilitate the movement of allied forces on NATO's Eastern Flank.


The allied official met, at the Defence Staff headquarters, with the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Dragoș-Dumitru Iacob, and with the Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff for Operations and Training, Lieutenant General Iulian Berdilă.


The discussions addressed topics related to the developments in the security environment in the Black Sea region, the strengthening of NATO's deterrence and defence posture on the Eastern Flank, as well as the development of the necessary capabilities to ensure military mobility and the support provided by the host state (Host Nation Support - HNS).


At the same time, the officials analyzed ways in which Romania contributes to facilitating the reception, deployment and support of allied forces on national territory, in accordance with NATO defence plans and highlighted the importance of cooperation between military institutions and civil authorities to strengthen resilience and response capacity.


During the visit, the allied delegation traveled to the National Administration of State Reserves and Special Issues, the Department for Emergency Situations, 26th RSOM Base and the 90th "Comandor aviator Gheorghe Bănciulescu" Airlift Base, where national capabilities in charge with the reception, stationing, integration and support of Allied forces were presented, as well as the cooperation mechanisms between military structures and civil institutions involved in ensuring military mobility and national resilience.


The visit reconfirmed the importance of close cooperation between Romania and NATO command structures for the development of an efficient support and facilitation network for the movement of Allied forces, as well as our country's role in the implementation of regional defence plans and in strengthening security on the Eastern Flank of the Alliance.


The Joint Support and Facilitation Command (JSEC), headquartered in Ulm, Germany, is the NATO operational command responsible for coordinating activities to support and facilitate the movement, reinforcement and support of Allied forces in SACEUR's area of ​​responsibility, contributing to the strengthening of the deterrence and defence posture of the Alliance.
