The European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) hosted a webinar bringing together market analysts and policy experts to examine the current state of Europe's transition to zero-emission mobility.
Amid mounting regulatory pressure and a rapidly evolving automotive landscape, the session provided a sobering assessment of the enabling conditions required for the transition to succeed, and how these compare with market realities today.
The webinar featured presentations from Rosanne Vanpée (Researcher, Transport & Mobility Leuven), Reinhard Schorsch (Executive Director, S&P Global Mobility) and Maria Linkova-Nijs (Executive Head Policy & Strategy, ACEA). By bringing together analytical research and market insights, the discussion shed light on the real progress and challenges of Europe's EV shift.
The session offered a comprehensive reality check on Europe's electrification journey, examining both the progress made and the obstacles still slowing momentum. Key issues discussed included affordability and the need for incentives, uneven EV adoption across EU markets, infrastructure and grid readiness, and the feasibility of reaching the 2035 zero-emission targets under these conditions.
As Europe faces a pivotal moment in its transition, achieving success will depend on aligning policy, market forces and industrial capacity to make the shift to zero-emission mobility both achievable and sustainable.
