Congresswoman Ramirez Leads 71 Members to Demand Hearings on Noem’s Impeachable Offenses

Washington, DC -Today, Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03) led 71 members of Congress to demand the House Committee on Judiciary immediately start investigation hearings on Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's unlawful and potentially impeachable actions. The letter comes as a follow-up to Ramirez's request to the Committee of Judiciary on December 11, 2025.

"Since the official request was made, the pattern of lawless behavior has continued, culminating on Jan 7, 2026, with the ICE-involved death of 37-year old citizen Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis," wrote the Members of Congress. "As members of Congress, it is our responsibility as public servants charged with the Constitutional duty of oversight to ensure justice and accountability when those who hold public office violate their oath and the laws of the United States of America. We call again on the House Judiciary Committee to fulfill its obligation and conduct a thorough investigation into Secretary Noem's unlawful and potentially impeachable actions."

In the official request, the members accuse Secretary Noem of:

  • Misusing resources appropriated by Congress and engaging in unethical behavior.
  • Repeatedly making false and misleading statements to Congress and to the press.
  • Undermining the separation of powers and disregarding the role of Congress and the Courts.

"Under Secretary Kristi Noem's leadership, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has done irreversible harm to our constituents, trampling the rights of all people and disregarding the rule of law. Secretary Noem has established a clear pattern of lawless behavior, mirrored in the behavior of rank-and-file members of her leadership team and enforcement agents," the 72 Members of Congress wrote."When taken together, her actions violate her oath of office."

The letter was signed by Reps Yassamin Ansari, Jake Auchincloss, Nanette Barragán, Wesley Bell, Julia Brownley, NIkki Budzinski, Salud Carbajal, Greg Casar, Joaquin Castro, Judy Chu, Gilbert Cisneros, Yvette Clarke, Jim Costa, Danny Davis, Diana DeGette, Mark DeSaulnier, Debbie Dingell, Dwight Evans, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Adriano Espaillat, Lizzie Fletcher, Bill Foster, Valerie Foushee, Laura Friedman, Maxwell Frost, Jesús "Chuy" García, Sylvia Garcia, Daniel Goldman, Al Green, Adelita Grijalva, Jahana Hayes, Val Hoyle, Glenn Ivey, Jonathan Jackson, Henry Johnson, Julie Johnson, Sydney Kamlager-Dove, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Summer Lee, Sam Liccardo, Doris Matsui, Jennifer McClellan, Betty McCollum, Morgan McGarvey, LaMonica McIver, Grace Meng, Dave Min, Seth Moulton, Kevin Mullin, Johnny Olszewski, Jimmy Panetta, Mark Pocan, Nellie Pou, Luz Rivas, Andrea Salinas, Linda Sánchez, Janice Schakowsky, Kim Schrier, Lateefah Simon, Eric Sorensen, Daren Soto, Melanie Stansbury, Eric Swalwell, Mark Takano, Shri Thanedar, Mike Thompson, Rashida Tlaib, Jill Tokuda, Paul Tonko, Ritchie Torres, Juan Vargas, Nydia Velázquez.
