Events DC Hosts Free Community Events in Every Corner of DC for the Summer

Events DC Announces Lineup of Community Events Featuring Community Cooldown, Camp Zen, Art All Night and Walking Town

Today, Events DC, the official convention and sports authority of Washington, DC, is announcing Summertime in the District, a summer event lineup which includes free ice cream, wellness activities, celebrations and community fun in neighborhoods across the District. The events -taking place in all four quadrants of the city- are free, open to the public, and family-focused.

"Summertime in the District is back and we're turning every corner of our city into a vibrant stage for connection," said Events DC President and CEO, Angie M. Gates. "We are incredibly proud to present a dynamic lineup of programming that spans all eight wards, offering residents and visitors an opportunity to create lasting memories. From Community Cooldowns with free ice cream to Events DC Walking Town featuring neighborhood tours, we are excited to see the District come alive this season."

This year, summer kicks off with the Events DC's Community Cooldown Summer Series featuring free sweets, music and family-friendly activities in all eight wards. Following the series kickoff on July 15, upcoming Community Cooldown events include:

  • University of the District of Columbia (Ward 3) on July 22;
  • Everyday Sundae (Ward 4) on July 24;
  • District Running Collective at La Cosecha (Ward 5) on July 25;
  • LIVE @ Anthem Row (Ward 2) on July 30;
  • National Lifeguard Day at Oxon Run Pool (Ward 8) on July 31;
  • The Fields Pavilion at RFK (Ward 7) on August 4; and
  • School Spirit Day at Here's the Scoop (Ward 1) on August 6.

Camp Zen returns on August 14 at Sycamore & Oak featuring holistic healing and personal development activities for all ages. Running from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., attendees will have a chance to take free yoga classes, create art, and enjoy a petting zoo.

On September 12, Events DC will celebrate Art All Night at Anthem Row and K Street, NW. This year's theme is District of Wonder and will feature a vibrant circus-inspired journey that includes performances, music, treats and interactive activities for all ages.

Later in September, Events DC will welcome residents and visitors to WalkingTown, returning September 19-26. This annual program celebrates Washington, DC's rich history, with 8 Days, 8 Wards, 1 City through free guided walking and biking tours. Participants can explore some of the city's most iconic landmarks and hidden gems while discovering the stories, culture and communities that make the District unique.
