The Unified Government and project partners invite the public to attend the second open house for the Elevating KCK River Crossing Study on Tuesday, September 30, from 4 to 7 PM at the Children's Campus of Kansas City, 444 Minnesota Avenue, 3rd Floor, Kansas City, KS 66101.
The Elevating KCK study is focused on shaping the future of the Kansas Avenue and Central Avenue bridges. The project team has been exploring whether rehabilitation, replacement, or removal would best meet the long-term needs of the community.
During the open house, attendees will have the opportunity to view proposed design concepts for the two bridges and learn how public feedback collected earlier this year helped shape the options being presented. More than 380 residents responded to the first survey, providing valuable insights on how the bridges are used, the impact of closures on residents and businesses, and what the community would like to see in new designs.
In addition to reviewing design concepts, visitors will be able to provide input through a second survey, available both at the open house and on the study's website. This feedback will help guide the study team as they continue refining alternatives and developing a financial plan in coordination with local, state, and federal partners later this fall.
