Texas Corn Producers applauds appointment of Justin Benavidez as USDA Chief Economist

Texas Corn Producers (TCP) is thrilled to congratulate Justin Benavidez, Ph.D., on his appointment as Chief Economist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). TCP Executive Director David GIbson states:

"Dr. Benavidez's deep understanding of the economic landscape and his rural Texas roots make him an exceptional choice for this role. From his early days as a congressional intern to his impactful work at AgriLife and the House Agriculture Committee, Justin has proven himself to be a dedicated advocate for the industry.

For decades, our organization has invested in college students through the Texas A&M Congressional Internship program, and Dr. Benavidez is a shining example of how such investments in our youth pay dividends for the future of agriculture. We are immensely proud to see a former intern from that program rise to such a critical leadership position.

We are confident that Dr. Benavidez brings valuable expertise to the agency that will serve our nation's producers well, and we look forward to maintaining our strong professional relationship with him in Washington."
