SIIA Submits Recommendations on European Space Act Implementation

The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) submitted comments to the European Commission on the implementation and adoption of the European Space Act (EUSA). As space activities and private sector investment grow rapidly, SIIA emphasizes that the EUSA should encourage innovation, competition, and collaboration while maintaining safety, resilience, and sustainability.

SIIA's recommendations focus on three areas: providing regulatory clarity for non-EU operators, promoting technology-neutral rules to support innovation, and removing restrictive ex ante requirements for satellite and constellation design. The organization cautions that overly prescriptive regulations could slow development, limit competition, and prevent European consumers and businesses from benefiting from emerging space technologies.
