Senator Alsobrooks Votes to Block Arms Sales to Israel Amid Iran War

April 15, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC - Senator Alsobrooks (D-Md.) voted for Joint Resolutions of Disapproval, S.J.Res 32 and S.J.Res. 138, to block specific foreign military sales of cases of Caterpillar bulldozers and 1,000-pound bombs to Israel. Senator Alsobrooks released the following statement after her vote:

"President Trump took the United States to war with Iran without authorization of the United States Congress. This illegal war has failed to achieve any strategic benefit or make the United States or Israel any safer.

"We have lost 13 American service members and nearly $2 billion a day. At least 1,701 civilians - including 254 children - have been killed in Iran. There are 24 dead and over 7,000 wounded in Israel, hundreds of dead and thousands of wounded in Lebanon, and no clear end in sight.

"I remain committed to the U.S.-Israel relationship and my belief that the people of Israel have a right to defend themselves. My vote today is not a vote against Israel's defense; it is a vote against deepening U.S. complicity in an unauthorized war against Iran.

"The task before us all remains our work together towards a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and a durable peace in the region and putting an end to this costly, unauthorized war in Iran. Families - and especially children - on all sides of this conflict are suffering immense pain. We must reach lasting peace."
