MONTGOMERY, Ala., Aug. 11 - The Alabama Farmers Federation hailed wins by Alabama FarmPAC-endorsed candidates in Tuesday's special primary election.
Former Congressman Jerry Carl, R-Mobile; state Rep. Rhett Marques, R-Enterprise; and Congressman Gary Palmer, R-Hoover; sailed to victory in the Republican primary for Alabama Congressional Districts 1, 2 and 6, respectively.
Federation President Jimmy Parnell called the three lawmakers "friends of farmers" and praised members for their turnout in the unprecedented special election.
"We congratulate these men on overwhelming wins tonight and look forward to their ultimate victories in November," Parnell said. "Alabama Farmers Federation members understand the importance of showing up and making their voices heard. I'm convinced our members' support of Alabama FarmPAC-endorsed candidates was decisive in today's races."
The special election was called by Gov. Kay Ivey following a U.S. Supreme Court decision which cleared the way for Alabama to use the Congressional map developed by the Alabama Legislature in 2023 rather than a court-drawn map used in the 2024 elections.
