Marion Police Department's 5K4K9 Returns This Saturday; Fundraiser Supports New Crisis K9 Team

This Saturday, May 9, 2026, the Marion Police Department is hosting its 5K4K9 fun run/walk. The family-friendly community event will begin and end on the track within the Linn-Mar High School Stadium, 3111 N. 10th Street. Parking is available in the northernmost lot adjacent to the stadium.

Event activities start at 9 a.m. and include inflatables, a kids' fun run and the 5K event. Be sure to stick around to see the MPD K9s and their handlers in action. To respect the rules of the venue, dogs and other pets belonging to participants are not allowed.

Participants can register up to the morning of the event. The cost is $35 for those running/walking the 5K and $25 for those participating in the kids' fun run. Visit www.cityofmarion.org/5K4K9 to register, sponsor or view the race route.

Packet pick-up is offered from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, May 8, at the Marion Police Department, 6315 Highway 151. Unfortunately, bibs and race timers will only be available for pickup at registration the morning of the race between 7:30-8:30 a.m. at the Linn-Mar Stadium.

Proceeds from this event will directly support the establishment and ongoing care of the Marion Police Department's K9 program and the creation of a new Crisis K9 team.

Participate in the 5K by running/walking the course or by donating to this meaningful initiative.
