Debra Kamin Moving to Metro

Debra Kamin is the rare reporter who can and will do it all: a deeply reported investigation, a visually driven narrative, an engaging trend story and a fun quiz. She will soon bring her talents to Metro as an investigative reporter and turn her keen eye to a wide range of topics across the region, not limited to but including real estate and politics.

Three years ago, she joined the Real Estate desk as a freelance reporter and made such an impression that The Times had to hire her.

There is Debra before becoming official:

And there is Debra after becoming official:

Before joining Real Estate, she spent nearly a decade as a stringer in Tel Aviv, reporting for The Times as well as The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, Foreign Policy and Newsweek. She was also an editorial assistant in syndication at The New York Times. In addition to her Newswomen's Club award, Debra was given the 2024 platinum award by the National Association of Real Estate Editors for her work that uncovered pervasive sexual harassment in the real estate industry. Her investigations led to the resignation of the president of the National Association of Realtors and other shakeups within the influential organization.

We expect her versatility and curiosity to be a boon to the desk, and look forward to more scoops and investigations, but also delightful enterprise and features. She will report to Michael LaForgia.

Please join us in welcoming her.
