17th Annual Lifelong Learning Extravaganza (L3X) Runs Sept. 2-26

This fall, the Tallahassee Senior Center invites active adults age 18 and older to discover new interests and enjoy unique learning experiences during the 17th annual Lifelong Learning Extravaganza (L3X). Running Sept. 2-26, L3X features more than 50 engaging classes, workshops, recreational activities, field trips and special events to inspire curiosity and lifelong learning.

The public is invited to get a preview of this year's lineup at one of two free L3X Preview Parties on Monday, Aug. 10, from 5:30-7 p.m., and Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 10-11:30 a.m., at the Maguire Center at Westminster Oaks, 1221 Commencement Cove. Guests can browse the course catalog, meet instructors and sponsors, ask questions and enjoy light refreshments. Attendance at a preview party is not required to participate in L3X classes.

"Lifelong learning opens the door to new experiences at every stage of life," said Emily Starnes, the Tallahassee Senior Center's Lifelong Learning Coordinator. "Whether you're exploring a new hobby, learning more about a favorite subject or meeting new people, L3X offers something for everyone."

This year's classes offer a wide variety of topics including music, art, history, science, technology, literature, nature, food, travel, culture and more! Participants can eXplore, eXamine and eXperience classes such as North Florida Wildlife Tour & Animal Encounter, DEEP Brewing Tour and Tasting, Handwoven Bookmark Workshop with Leslie Cohen, Fashion of Goodwood through the Years, and Tree to Tree Adventures at the Tallahassee Museum.

L3X kicks off with an opening dinner on Wednesday, Sept. 2, featuring Shakespeare Man, an engaging and interactive performance by Phil Croton of the Southern Shakespeare Company.

Classes are offered throughout the day, with some evening and weekend options to accommodate working adults. Three events are free to attend, while most classes range from $8 to $30. A limited number of specialty programs are priced higher. Registration requires full payment, and refunds will only be issued if a class is canceled. Early registration is recommended, as some sessions may fill quickly.
