Notable Trends

  • Four aggravated assaults this week. Officers arrested one suspect who kicked a nurse while receiving care. They arrested the suspect in another case who strangled the victim. Charges were referred to the prosecutor in a third case where the suspect put the victim in a chokehold and strangled them. In the last case, the suspect shined a green laser at uniformed Department of Corrections Officers.
  • Officers arrested the suspect in the robbery after he pushed the victim and took their phone during an argument. He then smashed it on the ground.
  • One auto theft reported of a 1989 Honda Civic.
  • Two commercial burglaries this week. In one, the suspect broke into a storage unit, stealing Lego sets. In another, the suspect cut the gate lock and stole propane tanks and batteries off RVs.
  • Two e-bikes were stolen from outside a residence. Another bike was stolen out of a garage after the door was accidentally left open. We received one report of a license plate theft and catalytic converter theft.
  • Five vehicle prowls reported with one an open investigation. Some of the property stolen from the vehicles was tools, money, work supplies, laptops, cell phone, wallet and jewelry.

Other Items

  • Officers responded to 1,041 calls for service this week.
  • This week's photo is a throw-back picture of some traffic safety yard signs. We continue to receive complaints from neighbors all over the city regarding speeding. Please remember to drive the speed limit, or less, depending on conditions. Be extra cautious around schools and in neighborhoods where there are increased pedestrians, bikers, children and pets.
