U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Michigan State Director Dom Restuccia today announced a $41,500 grant for the Coopersville Downtown Development Authority in Ottawa County. The grant funds will help the development authority install a multi-purpose platform space.
"Promoting economic development is one of our strategies to revitalize rural Michigan communities," said Restuccia. "Thanks to the leadership of President Donald Trump and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, we are creating new opportunities for sustained growth with communities like Coopersville."
The Coopersville Downtown Development Authority will use Rural Development funding to convert an underused main street space into a versatile, multi-level venue for performances and everyday gatherings. Located near the pocket park, splash pad, local businesses, and historic train attraction, it will support regular community use and enhance downtown activity. The Coopersville Downtown Development Authority contributed $9,000 to the project.
The funds were provided through the Rural Business Development Grants program , which is designed to provide technical assistance and training for small rural businesses. The grants may be made to a public entity, an Indian Tribe, or a nonprofit entity primarily serving rural areas.
These investments strengthen critical community infrastructure, enhance quality of life, and help rural towns attract and retain businesses and services. Discover more investment details and historical data in the Rural Data Gateway and learn more about the agency at www.rd.usda.gov/mi .
