On June 18 early voting will begin for the August 4, 2026, Dual Party Primary Election in the City of Alexandria. The August 4, 2026, Dual Party Primary Election will include a Democratic Party primary for Member of the U.S. House of Representatives, 8th District, or a Republican Party primary for Member of the U.S. Senate. Qualified Virginia voters may choose to vote either ballot, but not both.
Carefully review the information below to determine applicable deadlines, times, and locations.
The deadline to vote early in person is Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 5 p.m. In-person early voting hours are as follows:

Applications to request a mail-in ballot must be received in the Office of Voter Registration & Elections by 5 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2026. Access an application in one of the following ways:
Completed ballots must be either returned to the Office of Voter Registration & Elections by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, or postmarked by August 4 and received in the office by noon on Friday, August 7. To vote in person, an application is not required. Applications should not be submitted before voting in person.
Ballot drop boxes will be available at all polling places on August 4, 2026, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. A secure outdoor drop box, under video surveillance, is available in front of the Office of Voter Registration & Elections, 24 hours a day, through August 4, 2026, at 7 p.m. There will also be a drop box at Beatley Library during early voting hours.
The deadline for the normal registration period for the August 4, 2026, Dual Party Primary Election is July 24, 2026. Following this, the Same Day Registration period begins and runs through Election Day, August 4, 2026.
